Meet a
New Plainfield Girl Scouts Troop
“One of our greatest successes in 2023 was forming a partnership with the Plainfield Board of Education to include Girl Scouts as part of the Plainfield public school’s after-school programming. Troops are being established in each of the 10 elementary schools, 1 troop in each of the middle schools, and 1 troop in the high school - for a total of 13 troops. To date, 194 girls are registered, and troops have started meeting.
Additionally, in October we held an in-person leader training for 27 troops leaders with an additional make-up training held in November for 10 troop leaders. During these trainings, leaders were introduced to the Girl Scouts, learned behavior management techniques, learned about important leader resources. Leaders left the training sessions feeling prepared, supported, and enthusiastic.
In late January, Natasha Hemmings, our Chief Executive Officer, personally delivered uniforms to four different troops in Plainfield. The girls were excited to receive their uniforms!”
